Fast Stream Programmes

Given the size of the Civil Service, there are an enormous number of possible areas for you to work in, and you will never be short of new challenges throughout the course of your career.

The question is, where do you start?

The Graduate Fast Stream is open to people from any academic discipline. Within it, you can choose from a range of options, according to your preferences and interests.

We also have five separate Fast Stream schemes designed for specialists and other groups:

• The Analytical Fast Stream offers graduate opportunities for economists, statisticians, social researchers and operational researchers
• The HR Fast Stream is for graduates with a proven interest in all areas of the HR profession
• The Technology in Business Fast Stream is for graduates who understand and have a strong interest in technology and its application
• The European Fast Stream is for graduates seeking a permanent career in the EU institutions in Brussels
• The Northern Ireland Fast Stream is for graduates wishing to make a career in the Northern Ireland Civil Service.

You may apply for certain combinations of schemes at the same time. Depending on eligibility, you may choose one, and only one, of the following four variations:

• You may apply concurrently for any combination of the Graduate, Technology in Business and European Fast Stream schemes*;
• You may apply for as many of the Analytical Fast Stream schemes as you wish, as long as you meet the eligibility criteria* - Economist, Statistician, Operational Research and Social Research;
• You may apply for the HR Fast Stream scheme;
• You may apply for the Northern Ireland Fast Stream scheme.

* If you have checked your eligibility and intend to apply for more than one scheme, please ensure you add your schemes in order of preference.
